Walk Down Memory Lane

Day 01

Silk Route VIP Arrival

You will arrive at the Bandaranaike International Airport and be greeted by the airport officials who will help you clear immigration and lead you straight to the Silk route arrival lounge. Whilst you enjoy a welcome snack and meet with your travel host and travel engineer from ArTravele, your luggage will be cleared for you. Thereafter embark on a private transfer to you first hideaway to relax and unwind.

Sit back and relax in the comforts of the Notary’s House as you unwind after a tiring flight. If time and energy permits, set out on a bicycle ride through a coconut plantation and the local village to witness the true form of authentic hospitality of the smiling Sri Lankan.

Visit Anuradhapura

Wake up to the scent of freshly husked coconuts and the sounds of the neighboring village. Indulge in a local breakfast before heading out to the cultural hub of Sri Lanka. Rest while your travel host drives you to your destination and notice the scenery change outside. Gaze out of the window of your luxury vehicle as the scenery changes from cement grey to paddy green. The aroma of fauna will fill you nostrils as you step in to the cultural hub. Explore the ancient city of Anuradhapura with your travel host as he will leave you in awe with stories of great kings and the origin of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. A skyline of stupas against the setting sun is a sight for sour eyes. Check in to your hideaway and be greeted like royalty and enjoy the luxuries of your villa with a private pool.

Visit Polonnaruwa, Authentic Village Lunch, Primate Experience

The harmony of the peacock and jungle foul is a sound worth waking up to. After your breakfast, meet your travel host who will accompany you to the Historic city of Polonnaruwa. A multitude of skillfully sculpted statues lay motionless at your presence in this historic city. Learn of a different era of kings and how they lived in the island of Ceylon. Afterwards you will enjoy a scrumptious Sri Lankan lunch overlooking a paddy field, to your heart’s content.

You have the option to pay a visit to the primate camp in Polonnaruwa. Be met with a professor who will guide you through the studies of the primitive society. Afterwards you will head back to your hideaway to relax and unwind in the pleasures of your private villa.

Visit Sigiriya, Temple Trilogy

After a scrumptious breakfast you will leave towards the hill capital, Kandy. En route learn the story of King Kashyapa and his brother while you make your way to the famous Sigiriya Lion Rock Fortress. This magnificent structure will engulf you with wonder as you travel back in time to the time of kings and queens.

Watch as the paddy fields transform into tea plantations and the air becomes lighter. Breathe in the fresh air filled with the aroma of Ceylon tea as you relax at your next hideaway. Experience Ceylon tea like never before as you get a privately guided tour of a tea factory and a tea estate. Understand the process of tea and how it transforms from the lush green leaf to a brown flake packed with flavor and aroma.

Visit the lesser known temple trilogy in Kandy pique the interest of artist within. Slow your breathing and relax as you walk barefoot in temples as it calms your nerves and mellows you out.

Visit the Sacred Temple of the Tooth

Explore the last Kingdom of Sri Lanka with your travel host as he takes you to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. Attired in light colored clothes wander through the great temple as your host explains the great works of art, architecture, history and religious beliefs of the people. The Esala Perahera filled with fire dancers and drummers, tuskers and dancers will leave you in awe if you visit in the months of July or August. Spend the rest of your day relaxing in your hideaway as you warm yourself with a freshly brewed cup of tea.

Colombo City Tour, The Great Art and Architecture Walk, Colombo by Jeep

Leave the chilly hills of Kandy behind as you make your way to the commercial capital of Sri Lanka. Join in on the busy streets of Pettah, visit the historic monuments of Colombo, walk through the great art and architectural marvels which makes this city truly a character of its own. Explore the city in a World War II jeep if you wish to take in the best of what Colombo has to offer. Pamper your shopaholic self at the trendy malls and explore the gastronomical wonders on offer.

Visit Galle Fort

Watch the scenery change one last time as you head Down South for your final two nights in Galle. The Galle Fort is a remnant of the Dutch era in the 17 th century. Walk along the cobble stoned streets of the old Dutch Fort while you enjoy a blueberry sorbet to beat the heat. Let your host take you through the stories of the past as he reminisce his childhood growing up through the generations.

Spend your final day in Galle exploring the inner roads of the countryside whilst you experience the varying cuisine from past to present and let your host take you through the livelihoods which makes a living. Bid farewell to your island getaway as your travel host drives you to the Airport. You will depart through the silk route VIP departure terminal. Your walk through the memory lane of Sri Lanka will come to an end today!
